Ocean Fishing from Wrangell Island

Wrangell Island is perfectly positioned for world-class ocean fishing. Aboard our large, comfortable boat Chromagnum, guests fish the surrounding waters for:

  • King (Chinook) salmon

  • Silver (Coho) salmon

  • Halibut

  • Lingcod and other bottom fish (regulations permitting)

Guests also have the opportunity to set pots for spot prawns and Dungeness crab, adding another layer to the harvest-to-table experience. Fresh seafood plays a central role in meals throughout the week.

Stream Fishing & Foraging

In addition to ocean fishing, we spend time fishing clear, productive streams on nearby islands for:

  • Silver, sockeye, pink, and chum salmon

  • Cutthroat trout

  • Rainbow trout

  • Dolly Varden

Fly fishing and conventional tackle are both welcome.

While fishing the streams, guests can also forage for wild mushrooms, berries, and edible plants, learning how to identify and responsibly harvest what the forest provides. This blend of fishing and foraging creates a deeper connection to the land and a fuller understanding of Southeast Alaska’s ecosystem.

A Week Unlike Any Other

No two weeks at Chrome Chasers are ever the same—and that’s exactly the point. Fish runs vary, wildlife appears unexpectedly, and the rhythm of the tides guides our days. What remains constant is the quality of the experience: small groups, exceptional food, wild places, and the chance to be fully involved in every step of the harvest.

This is more than a fishing trip. It’s a deeply personal Alaska experience—rooted in sustainability, connection, and the simple satisfaction of providing for yourself and those you share the table with.

Know Your Food. Live the Experience.

At Chrome Chasers, we believe there is deep value in knowing where your food comes from—and in becoming a provider for yourself and your family. Southeast Alaska offers a rare opportunity to step fully into that role. From ocean to stream, forest to table, our fall fishing and foraging program is built around participation, appreciation, and unforgettable shared experiences.

Every week in Southeast Alaska is different. Tides change, fish move, weather shifts, and wildlife appears when you least expect it. Because of this, every trip we host is custom-tailored to the interests, goals, and pace of each group. Whether you want to focus heavily on fishing, expand into foraging and food preparation, or blend adventure with exploration, your week is shaped around what matters most to you.

An Intimate Alaska Experience

Chrome Chasers hosts small groups of just 4, 5, or 6 guests per week, creating an intimate and personal Alaska experience that simply isn’t possible with large lodges. This allows us to be flexible, move with the conditions, and truly customize each day. Guests often describe the week as feeling more like a private expedition than a guided trip.

With two experienced guides, groups can fish together or split into smaller crews of two or three anglers per guide. This setup works beautifully for couples, close friends, families, or small groups looking to share a meaningful adventure.
